FALCON'S RIDGE
The fresh breeze swept up over the dry bracken slopes, the cliffs were very noisy with sea birds enjoying the updraft. Fulma numbers had increased to 12 since the last time we took this route a couple of weeks back.
The team strolled gently along the lower footpath sniffing old and new smells, getting acquainted with the location again. Then on to the steps that lead to the cliff top, let's pump-up those legs and GO FOR IT! This time I lead the way running flat-out, I'm sure the dogs thought, I hope he doesn't expect us to follow at that pace? All the crew followed close behind with Rolo at my heel all the way, he sometime shows his bigger pals how to do it! Reaching the top and grouping for a breather before moving on to "Falcon's Ridge" an outcrop of cliff at the entrance to the actual Wolf's Cave and sure enough two Peregrine Falcons were resting up in their favorite positions on the ridge. To see these birds hunting Wood Pigeons and Stock Doves along this stretch of coast is something out of the best wildlife programme - BREATHTAKING, an experience will worth a Sunday walk to see.
