WINTER SEAWEED LITTERS THE BEACH

THE PERFECT HIDING PLACE...

...for foraging birds, seaweed has been piling-up on Gory beach for days. It may look a mess but it’s vital for our shoreline birds, giving them a foraging bonanza to help fatten them before the very cold weather sets in.

A small flock of Turnstones, extremely well camouflaged flew from under my feet and the dogs disturbed a couple of elegant Grey Plover with their distinct black wing-pit, regulars on the beach over the winter.

LA PLÉMOUNT

This dramatic part of the coastline takes on a whole different feel compared to the warm summer, much quiet and somber. I hadn’t walked this group on this section of cliff-path before and they were off in front sniffing the next scenting patch. They loved it!
