THE FIRST TIME FOR JACK AND WINNIE
After a couple of days of heavy rain we had a few hours of dry but very windy weather. We found shelter on the North Coast this afternoon. Jack and Winnie were along for this walk and I was keen to take them along the cliff paths with me while it was winter, to get them use to the different level of freedom compared to the wide open scope of the beach, where they have the freedom to go a bit bonkers! The dogs keep close together as a group keeping up with me as I lead the way, with my Ella following at the rear tiding up slow-coachers. During the summer the cliff paths have many distractions as people take to the footpaths on fine days. I need the crew to respond to my every command so as not to obstruct the other users and be in total control. I want Jack and Winnie (and other new comers) to be familiar and relaxed with a range of different summer locations not to try to suddenly change their winter habits overnight. This would be stressful for them.
We headed from the lower path up to the waypoint overlooking Bonne Nuit, both Jack and Winnie were excited at first (that’s normal) racing along the path just in front of me, things calmed down as we climbed the steps and rested halfway to bond, all the crew were getting on together for the rest of the walk - It was great to see them playing safely and enjoying the location. All the dogs slept on the way back after this hard workout.
